This was taken in J K Gram, Kankroli in Rajasthan, after some function, probably in 1984/85. Not sure what that look on his face is all about, but I sure look pretty pleased with myself, probably 'cos I was definitely out of "prop" mode by then----->
Many years later, on a beach in Beira, Mozambique. Baba (our father) had been there on his own for 2 years, and this was our first visit, in 1990.

The ceremony is called "Annaprasan"...where the child has his first proper meal...with rice...

For some reason, there was no Annaprashan for you. SORRY, but it just didn't happen. Just one of those things.
Perhaps it was because you were already eating all the things it was considered inauspicious to eat before the ceremony - rice, non-veg, ....
Bozo was too, but that was kept secret from Thamma! It was easier to do, as we were in Madras!!
I don't know if the Mom is allowed to do it for her own kid, but we can organise one for you now, if you want. AND THERE WILL BE PHOTOGRAPHERS - by the DOZEN!
Ma - Hah I say. And "Bah". that is just typical, and too late to rectify, so thanks but no thanks. I am just going to add it to my growing list of "acts of discrimination against the ugly one". Hmmmph!! :-)

ReplyDeletemini i have to agree about the second child having less pictures no annaprasan n all that....... i too didnt have one, reasons unknown! unfortunately we couldnt have one for mishty as we didnt know how to go about it in uganda so how about having a grand one for the three of us? you, mishty n me!
